OSHA Compliant U Tie Off Bracket

Our “U-Tie-Off Bracket” (Product #UTO1001) is designed to be installed at ground level and easily set with trusses.

The UTO can be installed in various locations along the top cord of most common trusses. A thoughtful layout will enable the sheathing application to continue up the rake. Layout consideration should be taken at scuttle holes along the trunk line, plumbing lines, electrical lines, and truss bracing. The UTO is now sheathed over and remains in place in the attic area.

The UTO can now be used by the rest of the trades working in or along the attic areas (electrical, mechanical, plumbing…) and will also remain in place for future maintenance procedures.

Proper consideration should be taken for placement of UTO bracket.

1. Evaluate Truss Layout by taking into consideration:

  • Bracing requirements and placement
  • Locate scuddle hole(s) (Attic Access- Could be through a door or wall on multi-story structures)
  • Locate A/C unit(s) trunk lines ext.
  • Any area where maintenance procedure may occur (water heater, manifold, etc.)

2. Evaluate the types of trusses you will be working with by taking into consideration:

  • As you look at the trusses and layout, you can formulate the paths that the workman will be using (the path of least resistance)
  • These areas are most commonly where plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and other lines will be placed

3. Now that you have taken all of this into consideration, you should lay out your UTO brackets:

  • Over scuddle holes or attic accesses
  • At each A/C unit
  • Down the main path where trunk lines (plumbing, electrical, mechanical,  etc.) are with suggested placement approximately 48” apart

The unit below is an approximately 1800 square foot structure. With thirty three (33) UTO 1001 locations @ $6.75 each, they deliver ongoing protection for only $222.75:
